This site details the role of the Information Commissioner who enforces and oversees the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000. It also provides guidance on the need for anyone processing personal data to comply with the eight enforceable principles of good practice. Personal data covers both facts and opinions about individuals and includes information regarding the intentions of controllers of data towards the individual. |
