The FPA is the UK's national fire safety organisation and it works to identify and draw attention to the dangers of fire and the fire prevention measures by which their potential for loss is kept to a minimum.
The FPA Publications Catalogue lists the full and comprehensive range of excellent publications available from the FPA. These include a montlhy magazine, videos and technical information and guidance for those whose work demands a working knowledge of the elements of fire safety, fire prevention, product and systems testing and related loss control and environmental topics.

BRE Certification (Loss Prevention Council)
BRE Certification is a sister company to BRE which, for over eighty years, has carried out research into the safety, regulation and performance of buildings on behalf of the UK Government.
The Loss Prevention Certification Board joined BRE Certification in 2000.
They produce the FPA Redbooks which are the essential references for everyone having a responsibility for the design, specification and purchase of construction, fire and security products and services.
The Redbook is produced annually in two volumes:
- Volume 1: LPCB List of Approved Fire and Security Products and Services
- Volume 2: LPCB and BRE Certification List of Approved Companies and Approved Construction Products

The environment agency publish to sets of pollution prevention guidnace in relation to fire water run off:
- PPG18 - Guidance to assist in the identification of the equipment and techniques available to prevent and mitigate damage to the water environment caused by fires and major spillages.
- PPG21 - Guidance to assist in the development of site specific pollution incident response plans to prevent and mitigate damage to the water environment caused by accidents such as spillages and fires.
